Mr. William J. Hill, 88, of Chase Road Shavertown, passed into his eternal rest Sunday, October 6, 2024 at home.
Billy, as he was known to his family, was born in Nanticoke, January 28, 1936, the only son to the late William and Jennie Chubeck Hill.
He was a graduate of Nanticoke High School. Following graduation, he followed his father into a career as a plumber, becoming a master plumber. He became a principal in the mechanical contracting firm of JL Turner and eventually retired as principal in the firm of Franchelli Enterprises.
Billy was especially proud of his service in the United States Army Reserve. He graduated from the United States Army Command and General Staff College. He served for over 30 years in the 402nd MP POW Camp. He had the distinction of being an enlisted man, warrant officer, and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel.
He attended Fellowship Church, Dallas.
Surviving are his sister's, Joan Colatosti (Nick), Sandy Mott (Ed), and Barbara Kocher (Bob); as well as several nephews, and several great nephews and nieces.
A memorial service will be 11am, Saturday, October 19th at Fellowship Church, 45 Hildebrandt Rd, Dallas, with Rev. Stephen J. Anderson, officiating.
There will be a light luncheon following the service.
Private entombment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Wilkes-Barre.
