Veronica Theresa Golaszewski, 100, formerly of Railroad Street Alden, Pa. passed away peacefully at Smith Healthcare Nursing Home of Mountaintop on February 15, 2023.

She was born on June 29, 1922, in Alden and was the daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Klish) Sklaney.

She was a graduate of Newport Township High School Class of 1940.Veronica was employed most of her life at General Cigar Corporation of Nanticoke and Kingston. She was a woman of strong Catholic faith and member of Holy Trinity Parish which is now Saint Faustinas.

She married Joseph Golaszewki in 1945 and they were together until his passing on July 18, 1982.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Helen Tarnecki, brothers, Stanley,Edward,Alex,Leo, Joseph, and Anthony.

She is survived by her children Robert Golaszewski (wife Rose Ann) Drums, daughter Dr. Janet Golaszewski (husband Dr. Daniel Mazzocco) Mountaintop, granddaughters, Lindsay Mazzocco, Jamie Mazzocco(husband Jeremy Watrous), and great grandson Jace Watrous, sister-in-law Henrietta Golaszewski , and several nieces and nephews.

Veronica had several nicknames, Vern, Verna, Ciocia Vernie, and her favorite, Nan. She was always smiling, extremely generous with her time and talents, and always a pleasure to be around. She was an excellent cook and even better baker. She especially enjoyed preparing the foods of her Polish heritage of which she was very proud.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 21, at Saint Jude Parish, 420 S. Mountain Blvd, Mountaintop, Pa, where friends and family may pay their respects from 9:30am until 11. Following the visitation at 11am there will be a Mass of Christian Burial with Father Nash and Father Philbert concelebrating.
