Obituary

Theresa M. Wojcik of Wanamie and formerly Mocanaqua, passed away early Saturday morning, August 30, 2025, one day after her 99th birthday, surrounded by family at Allied Services Hospice, Meade Street, Wilkes-Barre.


Her husband Walter P. "Vady" Wojcik, preceded her in death on September 17, 1996 after nearly 50 years of marriage.


Born August 29, 1926 in Mocanaqua, she was a daughter of the late Luigi and Delia Angeli Tomassini

Raised in Mocanaqua, she graduated from Shickshinny High School.


Theresa was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union and was employed by the Luzerne Outerwear jacket factory and Gent-J Manufacturing until retiring. She was a life-long member of St. Mary's Church, Mocanaqua.


Theresa was a kind and caring woman who cherished her roles as wife, mother, and grandmother. She was "Noni" to both family and friends and enjoyed making homemade Italian dishes for Sunday family gatherings. Other hobbies included shopping and casino trips; assisting at her sister Dena's greeting card shop and watching sports, especially her beloved Pittsburgh Pirates. Theresa was a regular attendee at her children's and grandchildren's sporting events.


In addition to her parents and husband, Walter, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Inez Cresci, Dena Simone, and Clara Federici.


Surviving are children; Shirley (James) Zubritski, with whom she last resided in Wanamie; and Gary (Diane) Wojcik, of Seven Fields, PA; grandchildren, Tori (Michael) Steininger; Michael (Eileen) Zubritski; Eric (Christina) Wojcik, and Kevin (Maggie) Wojcik; great-grandchildren; Caitlyne (Carlo) Thomas, Baylee Steininger, T.J. and Zachary Zubritski, and Julia and Quinn Wojcik; and great-great grandchildren, Cole and Cooper Thomas. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, and cousins.


The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Jon Olenginski and Dr. James Brady and their staffs, as well as the staff at Allied Hospice for their wonderful care. During Theresa's final months, she received exceptional and comforting care from Amanda and Kathy.


Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. from Dinelli Family Funeral Home, 170 E. Broad Street, Nanticoke with the Rev. Gerald J. Gurka, officiating.


Viewing and visitation will be at the funeral home Thursday from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the service.


Interment and Rite of Committal will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Wanamie.
