IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Stephen
Minsavage
March 6, 1963 – September 28, 2025
Stephen "Skinny" "Stevie" Minsavage 62, of Kinston, PA passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 28, 2025 at Maple Ridge Rehabilitation Center in Kingston PA.
Born in Passaic New Jersey on March 6, 1963, he was the son of the late Joseph C. Minsavage and Elizabeth "Jackie" (Hagelgans) Minsavage who lives in Parsippany NJ.
Born prematurely, some basic things were a challenge for Stephen, but there were many things that he did exceptionally well. A sports enthusiast, in his early 20's he played semi-professional soccer. He also had an admiration for antiques and with his wood working skills, could bring old pieces back to life. One memorable piece was his great-grandmother's rocking chair which is still in the family. Stephen loved to cook and worked as a short order cook from time to time. He could work wonders in the kitchen and following a recent struggle with cancer, he would cook soups and stews and deliver them to the area homeless.
He attended AA meetings and would greet newcomers to the group and take them for ice cream after the meetings. Along the way, there was often a stop at St. Ignatius Catholic Church and an explanation of how important it was for them to ask God to forgive them. He stressed the importance of attending mass and praying the Chaplet of Divine Mercy regularly.
Three months prior to Stephen's passing, he told his mom that he thought the cancer was back. Three days before Stephen met God in all His glory, family and friends prayed rosaries and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy for him steadily. His mother was at his side holding his hand the whole time.
In addition to his dad, he was preceded in death by his wife, Denise and his brother David.
He is survived by his mom, "Jackie" and his daughters Jacquelyn and Amanda of Plymouth PA; his brother Joe and his wife, Diane of Boonton NJ; his sister, Marie Feller and her husband, Jeff, of Lancaster NH and his sister-in-law Christine Minsavage of Hillsborough NJ as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, October 17 at 11 a.m. at St. Faustina Kawalska Parish, 520 S Hanover Street, Nanticoke, PA, with Stephen's cousin, Father Brian F. Van Fossen as celebrant.
Interment with a Rite of Committal will be at a later date at Calvary Cemetery in Lancaster, NH.
In lieu of flowers contributions in Stephen Minsavage's memory may be made to support cancer research.
