Stanley R. Serafin, 80, of Hanover section of Nanticoke, passed away early Saturday morning, September 18, 2021 at his home following an illness.
Born October 26, 1940 in Plymouth, he was the son of the late Stanley W. and Josephine (Pargella) Serafin. He was a graduate of Nanticoke High School, class of 1958 and resided in Nanticoke most of his life. He married the former Elaine Zupko on September 17, 1960.
Stanley was employed by Blue Ribbon Bakery, Kingston and later as a mechanic with Air Products in Hanover Township. His last employment was at Techneglas for twenty years, retiring when the plant closed.
He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Larksville. Stanley was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved spending time with his family and grand dogs Bailey, Shea and Buddy. He enjoyed working outside in the yard and garden.
He will be deeply missed by his beloved family. Surviving is his wife, Elaine, they observed their 61st anniversary the day before he passed. He is also survived by his son, Ron Serafin and wife, Cindy of Larksville; his daughter, Sharon Rowlands and husband, Matt; four grandchildren, Fallon Serafin, Stephanie Seyler and husband, Evyn, Ron Serafin Jr. and Tim Rowlands; a sister, Ruth Goldsmith of Nanticoke as well as several nieces and nephews.
Stanley's family sincerely thank the doctors and staff at Medical Oncology Associates, the nurses at the Infusion Department of Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, especially Mary Lynn, and the staff of Hospice of the Sacred Heart for all the compassionate care he received.
Funeral services will begin Thursday at 9:30 a.m. from Davis-Dinelli Funeral Home, 170 E. Broad Street, Nanticoke with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 at St. John the Baptist Church, 126 Nesbitt Street, Larksville with Rev. Gerald J. Gurka, his pastor, as celebrant.
Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.
Viewing and visitation hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
