Sarah E. "Sallie" Price, 85, of Alden Station, passed away Thursday June 12, 2025 after a brief stay at the inpatient unit of Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore.

A resident of Highland Park Senior Living, Wilkes-Barre Township since last December, she previously lived almost her entire life at her home in Alden Station.

Sallie was born January 27, 1940, a daughter of the late James and Margaret Fine Tennessen Price.

Sallie graduated from Newport Township High School in 1957 and Wilkes College in 1961. She did graduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania and other colleges. She began her teaching career in Riverside, New Jersey, and later was on the faculty of James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre, where she taught English for thirty years until retiring.

She loved golf and held memberships with Fox Hill Country Club and Wyoming Valley Country Club. She scored five holes-in-one during her playing career and won three senior championships at Wyoming Valley.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, M. Carole Pfifferling; and her longtime companion, John Rowlands.

Surviving are cousins - including Dr. Willliam Raub and his wife, Joyce, and Lauren, Arne, and Chris Heggestaad.

Per Sallie's wishes, there will be no public service, viewing, or calling hours. Private Interment will be in the family plot in Oaklawn Cemetery, Hanover Township.
