Ruth H. Shalaida, 95, died Friday, August 15, 2025, at her home in Hillside, NJ.

Ruth was born April 12, 1930, in Rhinelander, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Edward and Anna (Garvue) Pazdernik.

She graduated from William L Dickinson High School in Jersey City, NJ.

Ruth was employed in New York City, NY for 49 years. Before retirement she was a supervisor at Equitable Holdings, Inc.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Ukrainian Catholic Church, Hillside, NJ where she served as secretary of the Altar Rosary Society.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Michael Shalaida, on December 5, 2004; sisters, June (Pazdernik) Nordling, Fridley, MN, and Alice (Pazdernik) Weith, Franklin Lakes, NJ; and brothers Kenneth Pazdernik, and Donald Pazdernik, both of Rhinelander, WI.

Surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Monday, August 25, 2025 from 9 to 10 a.m. at Transfiguration of Our Lord Ukrainian Catholic Church, 240 Center Street, Nanticoke.

Parastas will be at 10 a.m. followed by Liturgy and Panachyda.

Burial will follow in St. Vladimir Cemetery, Alden Station.
