Rose Stachowiak

Rose (Rosamond) Stachowiak, age 88, of Nanticoke, passed away Saturday, July 4, 2026 at Allied Service Hospice Center, Wilkes-Barre.

Born May 25, 1938, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna Metsko Jacobs of Wilkes-Barre.

Rose was a 1956 graduate of Hanover Memorial High School. She was employed for 32

years at Verizon, starting as a telephone operator and retiring as a manager.

She was a member of St. Faustina Kowalska Parish, Nanticoke and formerly St. Joseph’s Slovak Church; and a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death her beloved husband, Leonard P. Stachowiak, with whom she shared 57 years of marriage until his death on January 17, 2016; and twin sons, Michael and John.

She is survived by the Worth and Royer cousins, and best friends, the Bellanca Family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Faustina Kowalska Parish, 520 S. Hanover Street, Nanticoke with the Rev. Brian F. Van Fossen, her pastor, as celebrant.

Friends may call at the Marian Chapel of the church on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass.

Entombment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to St. Faustina Kowalska Parish in Mrs. Stachowiak’s memory.
