Michael P. Pastuszak

Michael P. Pastuszak, 75, of Nanticoke passed away Friday, September 25, 2026 following a brief illness.

A life-long resident of Nanticoke, and raised in the Honey Pot section, he was the son of the late Aloysius and Victoria (Ulanoski) Pastuszak.

Following his graduation from Nanticoke High School in 1968, he enlisted with the U.S. Army. He proudly served his country in Vietnam, receiving the National Defense Service, the Vietnam Service, and Vietnam Campaign Medals. He was honorably discharged in 1971 attaining the rank of Specialist 5th class.

Michael was a caseworker for the Luzerne County Assistance office, retiring in 2011. Prior to becoming a caseworker he was employed as a pipe fitter for Air Products.

Surviving is his wife, the former Doreen Stachyra, with whom he celebrated their 43rd anniversary on May 21st. He is also survived by his son, Christopher Pastuszak and his wife, Mary; a sister, Myra McGettigan; as well as nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by sisters, Lisa Berry, Patricia Moyer, and Eleanor Pastuszak.

Christian Burial outside of Mass will be Friday, October 2nd at 10 a.m. in the chapel of St. Joseph’s Slovak Cemetery, E. South Street, Nanticoke, with the Rev. Brian F. Van Fossen, his pastor, officiating.

Military honors will be accorded by the U.S. Army.
