Mark S. Washik, 70, of the Honey Pot section of Nanticoke, left this world peacefully in the comfort of his home Wednesday morning, April 22, 2026, after years battling chronic lung disease.
Born February 12, 1956 in Nanticoke, he was a son of the late Clement and Elizabeth Antonik Washik. He attended St. Joseph’s Slovak parochial school and graduated from John S. Fine High School, Nanticoke, class of 1974. He had a long career in the textile industry and was employed by Atwater Throwing Company, Plymouth for 40 years before retiring.
Mark was an avid gardener, with one of the greenest thumbs in Honey Pot. He will always be remembered for his warm, welcoming nature and the love he had for his family and friends, especially his grandchildren, who lovingly referred to him as “Pepa”. They were truly the light of his life. Even on the hardest days, he still did whatever would make them happy.
He was a member of St. Faustina Kowalska Parish, Nanticoke and previously St. Joseph’s Slovak Catholic Church, before its closing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard and David.
Surviving is his loving wife, the former Diane Zurilla, with whom he would have shared 48 years of marriage on July 1st; his children, son, Mark Washik and his wife, Tracy Shen, of State College; and daughter, Nicole Washik and her fiance, Jorge Garnica of Mountain Top; three grandchildren, Sebastian "Zeb" Garnica, Zoe "ZoZo" Washik, and Ophelia "Sweetie" Garnica; as well as sister-in-law, Carol Washik and nephews, David and Matthew. He will also be missed by his beloved feline buddy, Dexter.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Compassus for their loving care and support, especially Joe, Ann, and Kelsey. Mark had a very special spot in his heart for you all.

A Christian Burial outside of Mass will be held Wednesday April 29th at 10 a.m. from the funeral home with the Rev. Brian F. Van Fossen, his pastor, officiating.
