Cooper
July 11, 1955 – May 6, 2023
Mark G. Cooper, 67, of Hanover Township and formerly Sheatown, passed away suddenly, Saturday, May 6, 2023 at his home.
Born July 11, 1955, he was the son of Sylvia Kotch Cooper, of Hanover Township and the late Walter Cooper. A graduate of the former E.L. Meyers High School, class of 1973, Mark began a long career in electronics with Satellite Communications, and later in the Tobyhanna Army Depot C4ISR (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance Directorate), repairing highly sophisticated computer weapons systems. He received many awards and achievements over the years there. He more recently was employed by Home Depot and Lowes.
From a young age, Mark was interested in CB radios and went on to become a licensed HAM radio operator, communicating with other operators world-wide under his call signal WN3SIX. He had a special talent for building and repairing computers and could fix just about everything. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his daughter and doting over the family dog, Cookie.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his daughter, Emily Cooper and partner, Dani Keener; his sisters, Cheryl Lewis, Hanover Township; and Diane Surdel and husband, Joe, Wilkes-Barre; a nephew, Joey Surdel; as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
