Marie T. Kishel, 91, a life-long resident of Nanticoke, passed away Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at her home following an illness.
Born April 7, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Mary (Sirotnak) Majiros.
She was married to Leonard R. Kishel Sr. for 63 years until his passing on June 29, 2015.
Early in life, Marie was employed by General Cigar Company, Nanticoke and later it's Kingston plant. She last worked at Luzerne County Community College in housekeeping until her retirement in 1995.
She was a member of St. Faustina Kowalska Parish, Nanticoke and was a member of St. Joseph's Slovak Catholic Church her entire life prior to the consolidation of the parishes.
In addition to her husband, Leonard, she was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Majiros and a sister, Helen Warkomski.
She will be missed by her son, Leonard R. Kishel Jr. and his long-time girlfriend of 25 years, Emalie King of Hanover section of Nanticoke; Step grandchildren, Amanda King-Rueter and Matthew King IV; a brother, Albert Majiros of Pittsburgh and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by long-time friend and neighbor, Edward Glazenski.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Faustina Kowalska Parish, 520 S. Hanover Street, Nanticoke with the Rev. Sixtus Appiah Keyeremeh, as celebrant. Those attending the mass are asked to go directly to the church Tuesday morning.
Interment will be in St. Joseph's Slovak Catholic Cemetery, Nanticoke.
There will be no public viewing or calling hours.
