Loreta R. Janiczek

Loretta Rose Janiczek of Nanticoke passed away peacefully on April 7, 2026 with her loving family at her side.

Born in Nanticoke, February 17, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Stella (Jeziorski) Romanowski. She graduated from St. Stanislaus grade school with American Legion Honors in 1948. She was a member of the graduating class from Nanticoke High School in 1952 and Kings County Hospital School of Nursing, Brooklyn, New York, in 1955. She also received her Registered Nurse license in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Besides furthering her education at LCCC, she extended it at Nesbitt Memorial Hospital and Wilkes-Barre General Hospital in Intensive Care before retiring at Nanticoke State Hospital.

Loretta was a lifetime member of Kings County Alumni Association and St. Faustina Parish.

Loretta is survived by her loving husband, Leo Ronald of 53 wonderful years; daughter, Linda Marie Walkowiak (husband David); granddaughters, Jaclyn Sommers (husband Chris), and Lindsey Sears (husband Will),; a great-grandson, Parker Sears; stepsons, John Janiczek (wife Lisa), step grandson Dr. Jonathan Janiczek (wife Alexa), step great-granddaughters, Eliza and Enola, and step grandsons Jeffery and Nathan; Mark Janiczek (wife Molly), children Alexandra and Andrew.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved son, James Volpicelli, and her sister, Maureen Romanowski.

Private funeral services and interment at St Stanislaus Cemetery was held at the convenience of the family at Loretta’s wishes.
