IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Leonard Daniel
Nardozzo
May 15, 1944 – May 30, 2023
Leonard Daniel Nardozzo, 79, of Nanticoke, passed away Tuesday afternoon, May 30,, 2023 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.
A lifelong resident of Nanticoke, he was the son of the late Daniel R. and Rose A. Marshalek Nardozzo. He was educated in the Nanticoke schools and graduated with the class of 1962. Leonard served with the National Guard and formerly worked for Biscontini, in mining, early in life. He was later employed as an equipment operator for Penn Dot for fifteen years before retiring. Leonard also worked concurrently in the family business, Nardozzo's Pizza in Nanticoke, for the past 60 years.
He was a member of St. Faustina Kowalska Parish, Nanticoke, and the former St. Francis of Assisi Church until the consolidation of parishes. Leonard found solace and joy on the open road, riding his Harley Davidson with friends. After retiring, he turned his love for operating heavy equipment into a hobby. He made roads leading to an enormous pond he crafted filled with many fish he loved tending to daily. Leonard and his grandson had many adventures at this pond. One of Leonard's cherished traditions was embarking on annual fishing trips to Canada. It was a trip that he eagerly shared with his son and grandson. These journeys shared by the trio of Leonard's, were filled with much fun and of course, catching lots of Walleyes. He recently expressed his desire to take this fishing trip one more time before he felt he could no longer make the journey. The annual fishing trips on Black Donald Lake created treasured memories that will forever live in their hearts. Beyond his fondness for the outdoors, Leonard was known for his kindness towards his small circle of friends. He enjoyed going to the YMCA, Wilkes-Barre, and had been a regular there until his health started to decline.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Marie Summus in 1995.
Surviving is a son, Leaonard M. Nardozzo and wife, Melanie, Nanticoke; grandchildren, Leonard E. Nardozzo and Ella Viera Rose Nardozzo; a sister, Rose Ann Grabiniski, Palm Bay, FL; his former wife, Carol Galli Nardozzo; as well as nephews and nieces, Daniel and Amanda Grabinski, and Dan and Traci Summus.
