Julia Yurchak, 98, formerly of the Alden section of Newport Township, passed away Sunday evening, May 5, 2024 at the Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Dallas, where she was a patient for three months.
Born January 7, 1926 in Nanticoke she was a daughter of the late Theodore and Catherine Kieschel Pretulak.
She was married to Michael Yurchak for nearly thirty-four years, until his passing on August 25, 1984.
She was employed by American Brands Cigar Manufacturing Company, Mountain Top, where she worked as a patcher.
Julia was a member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, Nanticoke for most of her life, and following its closing, Transfiguration of Our Lord Church Ukrainian Catholic Church, Hanover section of Nanticoke. Her greatest passion in life was her family, especially spending time with her grandchildren. She put great love and meticulous care into her cooking, canning, cleaning, and baking.
In addition to her husband, Michael, she was preceded in death by siblings: Kazmier Waiter and his wife, Blanche; Michael Pretulak; Frank Waiter and his wife, Nellie; Ted Pretulak and wife, Stella; Mary Ulanoski and husband, Louis; and Sophie Bedzeski and husband, Ray.
Surviving is her son, Paul Yurchak and wife, Rose Anne, Dallas, with whom she last resided; grandsons, Attorney Michael Yurchak and wife, January, West Virginia; and Paul Yurchak, Florida; sisters, Paula Bzik, Katherine Simoncavage, and Olga Simoncavage, a sister-in-law, Mildred Pretulak; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call for viewing and visitation from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Thursday at Dinelli Family Funeral Home, 170 E. Broad Street, Nanticoke.
Funeral Liturgy and Panachyda will be 12:00 p.m. Thursday at Transfiguration of Our Lord Ukrainian Catholic Church, 240 Center Street, Hanover section of Nanticoke with the Rev. Walter Pasicznyk, her pastor, as celebrant.
Entombment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.
