John A. "Jack" Ostopick

Apr 26, 1947 — Oct 29, 2026

West Nanticoke

John A. “Jack” Ostopick, 79, of West Nanticoke peacefully passed away Thursday evening, October 29, 2026 at Allied Hospice, Wilkes Barre surrounded by the family he loved so very much after a long struggle with vascular dementia which robbed Jack of so many of the joyous memories of his life.

Born April 26, 1947, he was the son of the late John and Anna (Elko) Ostopick. He was a graduate of Nanticoke High School, class of 1965. Although small in stature, Jack took great pride in working on large earth moving equipment tires, many of which were as large as him, for many years at McCarthy Tire and Jack Williams Tire Company. After a work injury forced his early retirement from the tire industry, Jack proudly went to college and earned an Associate’s Degree in Industrial Safety.

To most, Jack will be fondly remembered as an outstanding master carpenter, electrician, and truly Mr. Fix-it. Jack could build or remodel nearly anything. He was always able to fix anything presented to him and had a knack for having or finding parts to fix nearly everything. His outstanding skills will be sorely missed by all. The term Jack of all trades truly fit him to perfection. Jack's life truly revolved around his family. He took care of his beloved mother during her final years with unwavering support and commitment. He would drop anything to go help his family and friends when needed. He loved holidays, family get-togethers, and Sunday rounds of visiting everyone. He rarely missed the opportunity to see his grandchildren at soccer games or events.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anna Ostopick and John Ostopick; sister, Doris MacDougall; brothers-in-law, Gary MacDougall and Michael “Mickey” Coffee.

He is survived by his children: daughters, Stacy Ostopick-Buckley and husband, Michael, Nanticoke; Tracy Wysocki and husband, Tony, Nanticoke; sons, Todd Ostopick and fiancé, Christy Gariepy, West Nanticoke; Kyle Ostopick, Hanover Green. The joys of his life, granddaughters, Jacqueline Buckley –Williams and husband Richard, Michaela Buckley, grandsons, Jack Ostopick and wife Sammi, Justin Ostopick, and Logan Ostopick. Great grandchildren James Richard, Josephine Rose, and Jesse Ryon. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Coffee, Mountaintop; an uncle, Samuel “Uncle Sam” Ostopick; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the wonderful nurses and staff at Allied Hospice, Wilkes Barre for the wonderful compassionate care they have provided to him.

In lieu of flowers, Jack would like you to “Not waste any of your money on flowers for him and just

spend it on something you need or enjoy” but if you feel so compelled to do something, a memorial

donation to Allied Services Hospice Center, Wilkes Barre would be very appreciated by the family. You

can make a donation through the Allied Services Make a Donation Page to support patient care and end of life programs.
