John A. Lipowski, 84, of Nanticoke, passed away Sunday, May 23, 2021 at Kingston Health Care Center.
Born August 29, 1936, he was the son of the late John and Helen Salva Lipowski. John graduated from Nanticoke High School, class of 1954 and enlisted and proudly served with the U.S. Air Force. He was honorably discharged in February, 1958 attaining the rank of Airman 2nd class.
Prior to retiring in 2001, he was a Corrections Painting Trade Instructor at State Correctional Institute, Retreat.
He was a member of the former Holy Trinity Church, Nanticoke, currently St. Faustina Parish; American Legion Post #350; Nanticoke Fire Department for over 50 years; Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 834, Nanticoke and the Honey Pot Club. An avid sports fan, especially baseball, he followed the Yankees. he also played softball for many years and liked shooting pool and darts.
Surviving is his wife, Helen Slota Lipowski; a daughter, Lisa Placek, a son, Marc Lipowski and wife, Karen, all of Nanticoke; grandsons, Nikolas and Benjamin Placek; granddaughters, Amanda and Jenna Lipowski; a sister, Virginia Palermo of Ambler and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will begin Wednesday at noon from Davis-Dinelli Funeral Home, 170 E. Broad Street, Nanticoke with a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 p.m. at St. Faustina Kowalska Parish, primary site, 520 S. Hanover Street, Nanticoke with the Rev. Shawn Simchock, as celebrant.
Interment with military honors will follow in Holy Trinity, Cemetery, Sheatown.
Viewing and visitation hours will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
