Joan F. Laux, 93, a resident of Highland Park Senior Living, and formerly of Nanticoke, passed away September 15, 2024 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald F. Laux, with whom she shared 61 years of marriage, until his death on June 15, 2021.

Born on January 31, 1931 in Sugar Notch, she was a daughter of the late James A. and Emily Sauer Freas.

Joan was a graduate of Sugar Notch High School and went on to work many different jobs throughout her life. Her long spanning career at the F.M. Kirby Center held a very special place in her heart. She and her husband Donald spent many years dedicated to working there together, even having a memorial named after them, "The Joan and Don Young People's Theater Series"

Joan loved to spend time with her husband and traveled the world together after their retirement. She was a member of Firwood United Methodist Church, Wilkes-Barre.

Surviving is a nephew, James A. Freas and his wife, Michelle, Centennial, CO; a great niece, Megan Pagnotta and her family, Littleton, CO; great nephews, Ryan Freas, and his family, Pasadena, CA, and Scott Freas and his family, Foxfield, CO; and a brother-in-law, Harold Laux, NJ.

A Memorial Service will be held 10:30 am, Thursday, September 19th, from Dinelli Family Funeral Home, 170 E. Broad Street, Nanticoke, with the Rev. Roger C. Noss Jr., pastor or Mount Moriah Independent Community Fellowship, officiating.

Friends and Family may call for visitation Thursday, from 9:30 am until the time of service.

Private interment will be in Hanover Green Cemetery.
