Obituary

Janet Paula Dzwileski, 83, of Nanticoke, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday evening, June 20, 2025, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.

Born on September 20, 1941, in Thetford, England, she was the daughter of the late Barbara Irene Kendall and Arthur Rowland Jacobs. She was educated at Norwood Primary School in Thetford.

She met her husband, Walter Dzwileski of Nanticoke, while he was stationed at RAF Lakenheath, England with the U.S. Air Force, and they were married on July 9, 1960, at St. Mary's Church in Thetford. They shared 54 adventurous years of marriage until his passing on January 9, 2015.

Earlier in life, Janet was employed at RCA Corporation in Mountain Top and later at Reilly Plating in Nanticoke. She later worked at Birchwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Nanticoke, where she had a long and dedicated career in environmental services as head of housekeeping. She retired in 2010 after 25 years of loving service.

Janet was a member of the British Wives Club. It was in her everyday life where her true grace shone brightest. To her family and friends, she was a woman of quiet strength: neighborly and warm, with a tenacious heart and a playfully dry sense of humor that softened the hardest days. Her joy was the simple pleasures: Pinochle games with neighbors, a mystery book in hand, sketching, bowling, classic movies, tending her garden and her beloved lavender, and knitting. Her door was open for her neighbors, spending hours chatting at the kitchen table with a cup of tea. Her bottomless love ran deep and wide, especially for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she adored and thoroughly spoiled. Family meant everything to her, and some of her happiest days were at the ocean's edge in Myrtle Beach with her family. Her hands were always busy, her heart always full; and the world is quieter without her gentle, steady presence.

She will be deeply missed by her loving family: daughter Karen Chapura and her husband Guy, of Sumter, S.C.; daughter Catherine Ludorf and her husband David, of Alden, Pa.; grandchildren Amanda Lukashewski and her husband Andrew, Mountain Top; Justin Chapura, New York City; Lindsey Wilkes and husband Kevin, also of Mountain Top; and Lauren Pope and her husband Justin, Cameron, N.C.; great-grandchildren, Aiden Lukashewski, Alyse Lukashewski, Hunter Wilkes, Brayden Wilkes, Colton Pope, Madilyn Pope, and Amelia Pope; her siblings in England, Gillian Scott, Barnham; Annie Hawkes, Harlow; Peter Jacobs and Basil Jacobs, Thetford; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A Blessing service will be held Tuesday at 6 p.m. from Dinelli Family Funeral Home, 170 E. Broad Street, Nanticoke. Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing and visitation Tuesday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
