Irene A. Mazuka, 91, a life-long resident of Nanticoke, passed away Monday, November 11, 2024 at Allied Services Hospice Center, Wilkes Barre.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John J. Mazuka, with whom she shared 58 years of marriage until his passing on October 14, 2011.

Born July 20, 1933 in Nanticoke, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Anna Skudla Michno. Irene was a graduate of Nanticoke Area High School, class of 1951 and in early years, worked at the General Cigar Company, as well as her family business, and finally she became self employed with her son, John Charles, in sales.

Irene was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved working with her son at the local flea markets. She had a deep love for animals, and would do anything to care for them, particularly collies.

She was a member of St. Faustina Kowalska Parish, Nanticoke, formerly Holy Trinity, prior to the consolidation of parishes.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Eugene and Florian Michno.

Surviving is her son, with whom she resided; John Charles Mazuka, of Nanticoke; a daughter, Sharon Morisetty and her husband, Dr. Satyasagar Morisetty, of Pittsburgh; a granddaughter, Kiera Morisetty, of Pittsburgh; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will begin 10:30 a.m. Saturday from Dinelli Family Funeral Home, 170 E. Broad Street, Nanticoke, with a Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 a.m. at St. Faustina Kowalska Parish 520 S. Hanover Street, Nanticoke.

Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.

Viewing and visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m., Friday evening at the funeral home.
