Edward F. Kobylarz, 75, of the Honey Pot section of Nanticoke, passed away Wednesday afternoon, March 1, 2023 at his home following an illness, under the care of the Hospice of the Sacred Heart.
Born March 29, 1947 in Nanticoke, he was a son of the late Frank and Veronica Antonik Kobylarz. Edward was a graduate of St. Vincent's High School, Plymouth, class of 1965 then served with the U.S. Army for two years during the Vietnam Era. His last duty assignment was Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. He attained the rank of SP4.
He married the former, Julianna (Julie) Shaffler on August 24, 1968.
Edward worked at Eberhard Faber, Mountain Top, and later, Topps Chewing Gum, Duryea, until their closing. He was last employed by Hydro Extrusions (former Mideast Aluminum), Mountain Top, until retiring in 2013.
He was a member of St. Faustina Kowalska parish, Nanticoke and previously St. Joseph's Slovak Church until its closing. He belonged to the American Legion Post # 350 and the Honey Pot Club; He coached Teener League softball while his daughters played for the Nanticoke Eagles Club team; and coached softball for the Keystone Games.
Surviving is his wife, Julie, with whom he shared fifty-four years; daughters Dawn Fisher (Brian); Angela Sullivan (John), all of Honey Pot; and Beth Stapleton (Ken), of Calvert City, KY; two step grandsons, Joshua and Clint Fisher; seven granddogs; a brother, Richard Kobylarz (Kathy), of Nanticoke; a niece, and a nephew.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kristy.
A Blessing Service will be held 7 p.m. Monday from Dinelli Family Funeral Home, 170 East Broad Street, Nanticoke with Deacon Florian Gyza, officiating. Friends and relatives may call from 5 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks friends or relatives to donate to a charitable organization of their choice, in Edward's memory.
Private interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Sheatown.
