Obituary

Edward Gayeski Jr., 82, of Nanticoke, passed away unexpectedly Friday, January 3, 2025 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township. His wife is the former Diane Marcinkevicz, with whom he celebrated their 61st anniversary on August 24th.

Born December 10, 1942 in New York City, he was a son of the late Edward and Lillian Doliva Gayeski. Edward was a life-long resident of Nanticoke and graduated from Nanticoke High School, and Wilkes-Barre Business School.

He was employed as an accountant for RCA Corporation, later becoming Harris Semiconductor prior to his retirement.

Ed was a loving patriarch to his family and spending quality time together whenever possible was always a priority. He and Diane loved to travel and explore the world. He was also an avid sports fan, cheering on the New York Yankees, Philadelphia Phillies, Duke basketball, and Penn State football. Truth be told, he liked a lot of teams, especially when they were winning. He belonged to St. Faustina Kowalska Parish, Nanticoke.

He will be deeply missed by his wife, Diane; his two sons, David (Michelle) of New Castle, DE, and Jeffrey (Pamela) of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Maggie (Matthew) Wilder Gray, Dan (Ashley) Gayeski, Ally (Chris) Gayeski Lex, Emily Gayeski, Jalen Butts and Camryn Butts; two great grandchildren, Owen and Liam Gray. Edward is also survived by his sister, Joyce (Doug) Dlugatch of Congers NY, and Nance (Paul) Ushinski of Nanticoke, in addition to many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will begin Wednesday, at 9:30 a.m. from Dinelli Family Funeral Home, 170 E. Broad Street, Nanticoke with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Faustina Kowalska Parish 520 S. Hanover Street, Nanticoke.

Entombment with Rite of Committal will follow in the Mary Mother of God Mausoleum at St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.

Viewing and visitation hours will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
