Obituary

Edward "Joe" Bush, 81, of the Honey Pot section of Nanticoke, formerly of Glen Lyon, passed away Saturday afternoon, May 18, 2024 at his home.

Born July 17, 1942 in Nanticoke, he was a son of the late William and Anna Lurowist Bush.

He attended Glen Lyon schools and was employed by Penn Footwear for 10 years, Heavenly Shoe Factory for nearly 18 years, Social Security Administration, and most recently, Fitness Headquarters, Wilkes-Barre, until retiring.

Joe was a member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, Glen Lyon, more recently attending St. Faustina Kowalska Parish, Nanticoke. He was a member of Newport Township. Fire Company, Eagles Club, Nanticoke, Wanamie Archers and the Honey Pot Club.

Joe spent 40 years with his beloved companion and best friend, Caroline Gorski. They enjoyed working in the garden, going to church, and attending Penguins games. They were happiest when they were together and spending time with their family. Joe taught all of his nieces and nephews, cousins, and anyone who visited how to play pool and shoot darts.

Joe was a dedicated member of the Senior Bowling league at Chakos Bowling Alley. He could be found almost daily at the Nanticoke Senior Citizens Center, enjoying the company of his friends. He was happiest when sharing with others, especially a slice of pizza (or a few) or handing out treats on Halloween. He enjoyed volunteering with the Newport Township American Legion Food Distribution. He only ever thought of what he could do for others and always had gifts at the ready. Joe truly had the kindest and most generous heart.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by a brother, William Jr.; and sisters, Patricia Williams, and Barbara Vasilakos.

Surviving is his companion of forty years, Caroline Gorski; a brother, Donald Bush, and his wife, Leanne; a sister, Sandra Czapracki, and her husband, Stanley; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
