Dorothy Runchka Tengowski RN, 92, of St. Simons Island, Georgia, and formerly Nanticoke, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2025. She was born on July 22, 1933, in Hanover Township to the late Michael and Charlotte Runchka.
Dorothy dedicated much of her life to caring for others. She worked across the country as a registered nurse, touching countless lives with her compassion and skill. After years of service in her profession, she settled down to focus on raising her children, a role she cherished deeply.
Always generous with her time and her heart, Dorothy had a gift for making those around her feel cared for and valued. She loved to travel, especially with her church group, with whom she enjoyed cruises and memorable trips to Canada. Her joyful spirit, warm smile, and ever-present kindness made her a beloved presence wherever she went.
Family was Dorothy’s greatest joy. She treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchild, and she was happiest surrounded by those she loved. Creative and crafty, she was a talented seamstress with a fondness for the color blue, a shade that reflected her peaceful and gentle nature.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Michael Tengowski; and her daughter, Janet Dennis. She is survived by her daughters, Anne Skamarakus (Darryl) and Joan Englehart; six grandchildren, Lauren, Michael, Meghan, Dylan, Christopher, and Cameron; one great-grandchild, Samuel; and a host of extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.
Dorothy will be remembered for her unwavering kindness, her devotion to her family, and the joy she brought to everyone fortunate enough to know her. May her light continue to live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
