Dorothy Gribb, 94, daughter of the late Jake Zanowicz and Lucy Drozdowski Zanowicz, passed away early Friday morning, March, 3, 2023, at Allied Services Wilkes-Barre Hospice Center.
She was born in Nanticoke and was a graduate of Nanticoke High School. Dorothy was a member of St. Faustina Parish, formerly Holy Trinity Church, Nanticoke where she served as president of its Catholic Council for six years, was a Eucharistic minister, also a lector at masses for over thirty years. At the parish's social gatherings, she was a constant fixture, as well as being the church bingo manager for many years.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Anthony E. Gribb; her brother Jackie Zanowicz; infant sister, Irene; and her stepmother, Anna Ondek.
Dorothy is survived by her son, James; daughter, Joan Sholtis; sister, Marie Kruska; grandson, Jacob Sholtis; and great grandchildren, Lana and Luke Sholtis. Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and most recently great grandmother. She will be deeply missed by family and friends.
A viewing will be held from 5 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday from Dinelli Family Funeral Home, 170 E. Broad Street, Nanticoke.
Dorothy will be celebrated in a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Faustina Kowalska Parish, 520 S. Hanover Street, Nanticoke.
Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly ask that donations in her memory be made to the charity of choice.
