Dolores A. Gill, 84, a lifelong resident of Nanticoke, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at Wilkes Barre General Hospital. She is survived by her husband, Thomas M. Gill Sr., with whom she celebrated 64 years of marriage on June 10th.
Born December 7, 1940, in Nanticoke, she was the daughter of the late Steve and Helen Beresny Pelehach.
Dolores was a graduate of Nanticoke High School, class of 1958. Early in life, she worked for R.C.A., Mountain Top, before beginning a 34 year long career with the former Mr. Z's Market, later becoming Weis Markets. She started as a cashier, eventually working her way up to the office manager, until the time of her retirement in 2006.
She was a hard worker, but lived for her family, always putting them first and foremost in her life. She enjoyed watching her game shows on TV, and completing crossword puzzles. She enjoyed cooking and baking and was famously known for her homemade banana, and chocolate cake. They were highly sought after at family gatherings.
Dolores was a member of St. Faustina Kowalska Parish. She was also a member of the Quality Hill Playground Association.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Thomas M. Gill Jr., and her brother, Steve Pelehach.
In addition to her loving husband, Thomas, she is survived by her children, Kenneth W. Gill, Steven R. Gill, and JoAnn Gill and her fiancé, Ronald Baker; her sisters-in-law, Carolyn Pelehach, of Florida, and Marion Buchalski; her brother-in-law, James Gill and his wife, Marie; as well as many nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by her "fur grand baby," Sammy.
Funeral Services will begin Thursday, July 31st at 9:30 a.m. from Dinelli Family Funeral Home, 170 East Broad Street, Nanticoke, with a Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. at St. Faustina Kowalska Parish 520 S. Hanover St., Nanticoke, with the Rev. Brian F. Van Fossen, her pastor, as celebrant.
Viewing and visitation hours will be Wednesday 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dolores' memory may be made to St. Faustina Kowalska Parish, Nanticoke.
