Obituary

Charlotte Kania Chickson, 89, of East Church Street Nanticoke passed away Friday, September 11, 2020 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center following a period of declining health.


Born July 26, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Katherine Sharpe Kania. She graduated from Nanticoke High School and resided in Nanticoke her entire life.


In her early years, Charlotte was employed briefly at General Cigar Company, but was a homemaker most of her life. She assisted Marty and Lucy Cardone for many years as well as helping at their Pizza shop.


Charlotte was a member of St. Faustina Kowalska Parish, Nanticoke and formerly Holy Trinity Church her entire life. In later years she attended St. Joseph's Church, near her home. In the mid-1970s, she served on the Nanticoke Area School Board. Charlotte loved interacting with people and was never shy to say hello. She also enjoyed shopping and finding a good bargain.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Chickson, a son, David Bieski and first husband, Harold Bieski. She was the last member of her immediate family, being preceded by her brothers, Anthony, Raymond, Eugene Sr. and Narcis (Narcy) Kania.


Surviving is her son, Mark Bieski, Nanticoke; grandchildren, Sarah Gleich and husband, Jim and Bethann Debord, both of Las Vegas, NV, Amy McCabe and husband, Fuller, Jackson, Mississippi and Eric and Sean Bieski, both of Nanticoke; great grandchildren, Jack and Kennedy Gleich, Ryan McCabe and Michael Bieski. Also, by Daryle Cardone, whom Charlotte considered her third son, and several nieces and nephews.


Funeral services will begin Thursday at 9:30 a.m. from Davis-Dinelli Funeral Home, 170 E. Broad Street, Nanticoke with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Faustina Kowalska Parish, primary site, 520 S. Hanover Street, Nanticoke with the Rev. James R. Nash, her pastor, as celebrant.


Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Sheatown.


Viewing and visitation hours will be Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
