Padgett
October 24, 1946 – September 12, 2025
Charles E. "Chuck" Padgett, 78, of Hunlock Creek and Kingsland, Georgia, passed away surrounded by his loving family Friday, September 12, 2025 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.
Born in Lockport, NY, he was a son of the late Earmon and Mary Weakland Padgett. Due to his father's occupation and later his own, he resided in over 30 locations across the United States.
He was a graduate of East Anchorage High School, Anchorage, Alaska.
Chuck enlisted with the U.S. Marine Corps. and served his country for four years. Serving in Vietnam, he received various commendations for combat and was honorably discharged in 1971. Following his military service, Chuck continued his education and received his Bachelors of Science degree in Industrial Management with a minor in Accounting from East Carolina University, Greenville, NC.
Chuck enjoyed a long career in the trucking industry working for several large trucking companies, primarily with Consolidated Freightways, as a terminal manager retiring as a labor relations executive covering parts of northeastern United States and eastern Canada.
Chuck had a beautiful singing voice and frequently burst out in song from James Taylor to Les Misérables. He was also known for having a quick wit and fighting spirit. He enjoyed golf, sports cars, and mowing his lawn to perfection.
Surviving is his wife, the former Sandra Talarski, with whom he recently celebrated 45 years of marriage; children; Elizabeth Padgett, Virginia; Michael Padgett and wife, Gellaine Rabino, of California; Heather Padgett, New Jersey, and Jennifer Wood, of Maryland; grandchildren, Logan and Lily; and a sister, Juanitta Sherman, North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his brother, William Padgett.
A Mass Of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 2011 PA-29, Hunlock Creek (Lake Silkworth), with the Rev. Brian F. Van Fossen, as celebrant.
Interment with full military honors will be Monday, September 22nd at 3 p.m. at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your local food bank or favorite charity in his memory.
Arrangements are in the care of Dinelli Family Funeral Home, 170 E. Broad St. Nanticoke.
