Obituary

Catherine D. "Kaye" Brazinski, 92, formerly of Dorrance, passed away Tuesday, November 30th 2021 at Phoebe Allentown.


She was born July 14, 1929, in the Miners Mills section of Plains Township, a daughter of the late John and Anne (Struckus) Yaskoweak.


Catherine was a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School, class of 1947. In 1955, Catherine moved to New Jersey where she lived for 29 years, 26 of which she was an employee of Revlon, Inc. in Edison. In 1984, she moved back to the Dorrance area with her husband, Sterling, to retire with his parents, the late Frank and Mary Brazinski.


She was an active member of St. Mary, Our Lady Help of Christians Church, Dorrance, where she served as president and secretary of the Altar and Rosary Society, was a member of St. Theresa's Guild and the choir. She also had served in leadership roles in the Leisure Group of Mountain Top.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sterling, with whom she was married 54 years; her sons, Robert L. Brazinski and daughter-in-law, Nancy, and Frank S. Brazinski. She was the last member of her immediate family, being preceded by brothers, Joseph, John, Bernard, Leonard, and Lee Yaskoweak, and sisters, Florence Ciupinski, Bernadine Maga, and Margaret in infancy.


Surviving is her grandson and granddaughter, Robert Brazinski Jr. and Jennifer Brazinski, with whom she last resided in Hellertown; many nieces and nephews, including Kelly Ney, Janice Miller and husband, Blaine, and Carol Muhler and husband, Michael.


Friends may call for viewing and visitation hours on Thursday, December 9th from 5 to 7 p.m. at Davis-Dinelli Funeral Home, 170 E. Broad Street, Nanticoke.


Mass of Catholic Burial will be celebrated Friday December 10th at 10 a.m. at St. Mary, Our Lady Help of Christians Church, 3529 St. Mary's Road, Wapwallopen (Dorrance).


Interment will follow in the parish cemetery, Dorrance.


In lieu of flowers, her wish was that contributions in her memory be made to St. Mary's Church, or the S.P.C.A. of Luzerne County, 524 E. Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
