Caterina A. Kalinowski, 101, of Nanticoke, passed away Sunday afternoon, September 29, 2025 surrounded by family and loved ones.
Her husband was Alexander Kalinowski. They shared 61 wonderful years together until his passing on July 9, 2013.
Born February 5, 1924 in Old Forge, she was the daughter of the late Achille (Archie) and Marietta (Mary) Angelone Aloisantonio. Raised in West Nanticoke, she was a graduate of Harter High School with the class of 1941. She continued her education receiving her training to become a registered nurse at the Bayonne Hospital School of Nursing in Bayonne New Jersey, graduating in 1944. She served as a cadet nurse during World War II and later was employed by the Nanticoke State Hospital as an R.N. for many years until her retirement.
Caterina and Alexander resided in Nanticoke. During their retirement years, they spent their winters in Cocoa Beach, and Cocoa, Florida until 2011. Together they enjoyed traveling and also enjoyed dancing to both Big Band and polka music.
Caterina was a member of St. Faustina Kowalska Parish, Nanticoke and previously the St. Francis of Assisi parish until its closing. She was also active with the Nanticoke State Hospital Auxiliary and Red Hat Society.
In addition to her husband, Alexander, she was preceded in death by her brother, Archie Antonio.
Caterina is survived by her daughter, Donna Kalinowski, a sisters-in-law, Claire Antonio, and Irene Kropiewnicki; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Faustina Kowalska Parish. There will be no public viewing or visitation.
Entombment will be in the Mary Mother of God Mausoleum at St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.
