Carolyn C. Kovach

Carolyn C. Kovach, 101, formerly of Brookside section of Wilkes-Barrre, passed away early Thursday morning January 1, 2026 at Tiffany Court at Kingston.

Born November 4, 1924, she grew up in the Miners Mills section of Wilkes-Barre and was the daughter of the late Frank and Catherine Piewszanowski Rowny.

Carolyn attended St Joseph’s Parochial School and Coughlin High School. She worked about 40 years at Leslie Faye, Square Apparel, and JB Carr, where she met the love of her life, John (Red) Kovach. They were married in 1947 and lived happily together for 42 years until he passed in 1989.

She lived in the Brookside section of Wilkes-Barre and attended the St Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church where she was active in many church affairs. She also was active with the Brookside American Legion Womens Auxiliary for many years.

Anyone that knew her remarked about her baked goods which she shared with her family, church, and friends, but family holiday dinners were her most cherished times.

In addition to her parents, and husband, John, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters; Helen, Stanley, Jane, Stella, Al, and Theresa.

She is survived by her children, Bob and Paulette Kovach and Elaine and Ron Schlosser; her grandchildren, Jennifer Crouse (Chris), Kelly Kushinski (Kevin), Karen Schnepf (Mike), Matthew Schlosser (Melissa), PJ Schlosser (Denise), and Erik Schlosser; great-grandchildren, Caitlyn Hugendubler (Ben), Madison and Makenzie Schlosser, and Royce and Carson Schlosser; great-great-grandchildren, Ellis and Bobby Hugendubler; as well as nieces and nephews.

The family wants to thank the staff at Tiffany Court for the extra love and care they provided her in her final 8 years of life.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, January 10th at 10 a.m. at Exaltation of the Holy Cross Church, 420 Main Road, Buttonwood section of Hanover Township with the Rev. Richard J. Cirba, as celebrant.

Viewing and visitation will be at the church Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass.

Interment and Rite of Committal will be in St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Dallas.
