Carole L. (Zeigler) Rish, 86 of Shickshinny passed away peacefully on December 15, 2025 under the care of Allied Services Hospice Center after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Carole was the daughter of the late Anna (Brindle) Ziegler and the late Pastor Phillip Ziegler.
Carole was born on August 23, 1939 and grew up in Carlisle, PA. She then attended East Stroudsburg University where she earned her degree in teaching. She was also an amazing gymnast and represented the university's traveling gymnastics team. Her love of, and accomplishments in dance and gymnastics, led to her decision to teach physical education. In addition to teaching, she coached gymnastics and cheerleading in various school districts.
Carole then ultimately settled in the Greater Nanticoke Area School District where she had a long, fulfilling career as an elementary physical education teacher. She loved teaching her students line dancing and square dancing to an eclectic genre of music (Neil Diamond being one of her favorites). She had a positive impact on many of her students’ lives. Even on her very last day of life, one of her nurses told her as much, being one of those former students.
Carole is preceded in death by her mother, Anna (Brindle) Ziegler, father Pastor Phillip Ziegler, infant sister Marlene Ziegler, son David W. Moyer, nephew Zachary Ziegler, niece Kristin Ziegler, ex-spouse Delbert (Dutch) Moyer as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Carole is survived by daughters Lisa Moyer (and fiancé Anthony Novitski) and Kimberly (Moyer) Czapracki (and spouse Kenny), brother Jack Ziegler (and spouse Darlene) and brother David Ziegler. She is also survived by many grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Before being diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease , Carole was always highly active and adventurous. She was fun loving and had a huge sense of humor. As a young adult/college student, she spent many summers working in Ocean City NJ, where she accumulated many wonderful experiences and memories, which she held close for her lifetime. She was loved dearly by most who met her, as her personality was joyful, unconditional and full of love. She was an amazing mother and will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Nanticoke Christian Fellowship church.
