Knorek

Carl L. Knorek, 87, a resident of Nanticoke, passed away at home on a peaceful Sunday afternoon, November 5, 2023, surrounded by the love of his wife, Bernadine, of 64 years, and their devoted children.
Born on July 12, 1936, in the Honey Pot section of Nanticoke, Carl was the son of the late Walter and Dorothy (Stachowiak) Knorek. He attended Nanticoke Area schools before joining the United States Air Force in 1953. Carl's dedication led him to serve during the Korean Conflict era and in Thailand during the Vietnam War era, where he was honored with the Air Force Commendation Medal. Retiring in 1974 as a Technical Sergeant, Carl's commitment to service was unparalleled.
After his honorable service, Carl and his family moved back to Nanticoke. He became an integral part of the community, joining his uncle in the family insurance business at F.L. Knorek Insurance Agency. His work ethic and passion were evident until his final days.
A devout member of St. Faustina Kowalska Parish, Carl contributed selflessly, serving on the cemetery committee and volunteering at the parish's annual bazaar. His sense of community extended to various organizations, including the American Legion Post #350, the Greater Nanticoke Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Independent Insurance Agency Association.
Carl had a zest for life finding joy in the simple pleasures like fishing trips with his son and brothers. Among his cherished memories was the day he reeled in a trophy 13-pound walleye from NY. A true enthusiast of Polka music and an avid world traveler where he and his wife enjoyed 16 cruises. His greatest possession was his family, including his adored children, grandchildren, and great-grandson.
