Beverly M. Banks

Beverly M. Banks, 73, of Glen Lyon, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2026 following a brave battle with Multiple Sclerosis.

Born July 20, 1952, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Augusta “Tina” Pantaloni Kanyuck.

She attended the Newport Township schools and was a graduate of John S. Fine High School, class of 1970; received Bachelor’s degree from former Mansfield Sate College 1974, and her Master’s degree and Reading Specialist certificate from College Misericordia, 1978.

Beverly was an educator at Greater Nanticoke Area School District for over 30 years until her retirement in 2005. She also was the owner and proprietor of The Variety Stop in Glen Lyon for over 20 years.

Beverly belonged to the Pennsylvania and National Education Association, as well as Pennsylvania State Employee Retirement System; was a member of American Legion Women’s Auxiliary and was an honorary member of the Newport Township Lions Club.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her fiancé, David Guard on September 13, 2003.

Bev is survived by many friends and family. Friendships are a source of joy and strength. She shared unforgettable moments and bond with friends such as: Donna Lee Hischak, Barb and Ed Zaborney, Shirley and Jim Zubritski, and Susan and Jim Rhinehammer, who stood by her through life’s journey. Friendship isn’t about whom you have known the longest---It is about who came and never left your side.

A Funeral Service will be held Monday at 11:30 a.m. from Dinelli Family Funeral Home, 170 E. Broad Street, Nanticoke with Chaplain Lori Welch Robinson, of Serenity Hospice, officiating.

Viewing and visitation hours will be Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Private interment will be in Hanover Green Cemetery.
