Barbara J. Vasilakos, 82, of Nanticoke, passed away Tuesday evening, November 28, 2023 following a brief illness. Her husband, James L. Vasilakos passed away on December 23, 2022 after sixty-two years of marriage.

Born on May 6, 1941, she was a daughter of the late William and Anna Lurowist Bush. She resided in Nanticoke for most of her life and was a graduate of Nanticoke High School, class of 1959. She also trained to be beautician graduating from Empire Beauty School. She took care of her loyal customers for many years, operating Barbara's Beauty Shop and later Hair In Mind. Earlier in life, she also had been employed at RCA in Mountain Top for nineteen years.

Barbara was a member of St. Faustina Kowalska Parish, and St. Stanislaus Church prior to the consolidation of the parishes. Up until the last couple months, she was very active and enjoyed taking care of her home, doing her own yardwork and maintenance.

In addition to her husband, James, Barbara was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Williams, and a brother, William Jr. (Sonny).

She will be deeply missed by her sons, James J. Vasilakos and wife, Lisa of Dorrance Township; and Ronald Vasilakos and Cindy Parks of Shickshinny; grandchildren, Janelle, Corine and Braden Vasilakos; a sister, Sandra Czapracki and husband, Stanley of Nanticoke; brothers, Edward Bush and companion, Carol Gorka of Honey Pot; and Donald Bush and wife, Leann of Nanticoke; as well as nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by her beloved pet dog, Cuddles.

A Blessing Service will be held 10 a.m. Monday from Dinelli Family Funeral Home, 170 E. Broad Street, Nanticoke.

Interment will follow in SS Cyril and Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Berwick.

Viewing and visitation hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
